A first example of such an ‘Out of the Box’ trip is this   trip.

The story behind it?

“This year after Indaba I left for Namibia, a country I have visited several times before. I wanted to be off the beaten path. Usually one does a round, Windhoek – Sossusvlei – Swakopmund – short visit Damaraland and Etosha. Nothing wrong with that.   But I wanted to go back to the far north I visited a long time ago, on the border with Angola, and have a picnic in Angola. After a stop in Damaraland, refuel, 1H30 to the far north. This is the Africa I love. Sparsely populated by Himba nomads who are cross-border without passports. (After all, there are no customs officers in the area for hours.) And the Gambos, who farm on the banks of the Kunene River, for centuries, and still trade their crops for other true ones. They shun the dangerous waters of the Kunene River as the plague, a lifeline but also the area of huge nile crocodiles. Excursions you do with friends, no other homo sapiens to see as far as the eye can see. Time has a different meaning. Sunday or Wednesday doesn’t matter here.

Then via the coastto Skeleton Coast, with an hour-long flight. Once a protected area for the South African army. Now one of the most beautiful lodges on the African continent is found in the Hoanib River. (Hoanib is an underground river, where water is sometimes found, especially at the mouth.) This is a lifeline for the big game that is found here. Rain occurs here sporadically for sometimes once a year.

Besides springbok, giraffe, zebra, hartebeest, elephant also the large predators among others lion and cheetah. Special projects to protect caracal, brown hyena and Cape Fox are special projects. Pure enjoyment for the experienced safari guru.

On a three-day stay, you’ll be presented with a wonderful excursion to Skeleton Coast on the second day, through the dry bed of the Hoanib River. You end up on the beach with lunch, amidst a colony of sea lions, no other travelers to be seen. The long drive back is replaced by a short 20-minute flight, a scenic flight over the desert.

Both areas are so exclusive, for the traveler who does not want to encounter other vehicles or tourists. The other Namibia.I can only recommend this trip!”

I started Untamed with passion and love for the unknown. I am still enthusiastic about the unknown, new accommodations, pushing your boundaries. I regularly travel to our destinations to taste, experience and discover for myself. Traveling is looking at what is happening around you, but also discovering yourself. It doesn't stop, the more you discover the more you want to know. Everyone prefers to travel in their own way. People, animals, landscapes, cultures; meet and discover. We are all different, which makes it so interesting to share “adventure of a lifetime” with others.
