Here are some excerpts from Ann and Miet's extensive and enthusiastic trip report. You can read the whole story with beautiful photos and videos in the blog Safari trip in Kenya
The rainy season is clearly not over yet. For the past four years in Kenya, they suffered terrible droughts during the month of January. Now the roads have turned into huge mud puddles. This doesn't stop us from going on a game drive anyway.

After a delicious outdoor lunch, we enjoy afterward on our terrace by our tent. We are treated to some giraffes coming to drink at the pool near our tent. Soon after, an elephant family comes to quench their thirst at the same pool. Impala and jackals constantly walk back and forth. What a view!

At 5 p.m., our game drive will start. And what a one! We spotted a lion family and a leopard at very close range on its way to its well-hidden prey high up in a tree. Fantastic, if you know that leopards are shy animals. Our day couldn't get any worse! The next morning we spotted a mother Cheetah with four cubs. Wow, breathtakingly beautiful!

Notwithstanding we had booked a safari in the dry season, a semi-rainy season also has its charms. The savannah was beautifully green, it was never too hot and we almost didn't have to grease up. Of course, the at times abundant rainfall did complicate logistics. As a tip, we would replace transfers by jeep between camps with fly-ins. The rides were sometimes long and tiring.
The animals all looked well-fed, drinking and feeding in abundance.
Thanks to all our Masai guides and Masai drivers for the local game drives from the Porini tented Camps and thanks to our private guide-driver for the transfers between the camps.
