Dear Untamed Travelling,
Wow! What a special experience it was to travel through you to Jordantravel through you. It was an unforgettable experience, almost perfect!
Magical, well organized and perfect ratio of price and quality.
Arrival in Amman: We were warmly greeted at the airport with a sign with our names.
The only thing that was unclear is when the passports were taken by the person in question. I wasn't too happy about that; I'd rather not give my passport to anyone without walking with me. He got a little aggressive and told me to just listen. As a result, I was put through the full check at the airport.
He advised us to buy a SIM card, and walked with us. In the end, this was unnecessary because we had wifi in the car.
We then exchanged money and were dropped off with our driver. Really top notch! a private driver. This gave us the opportunity to keep our own times and make our own decisions. We wouldn't have wanted to undertake it with a tour bus, our pace is still killer.
The driver Faizal, is a nice man. Does drive a bit fast and is often a bit impatient in traffic. It was nice that he had wifi in the car, and was ready with a bottle of water every day.
A very gallant man, we found it a little strange that he did not eat with us, but eventually we understood that travco's policy did not allow that. It was nice that he always told us what to look for, and went with us down the street as a chaperone. Upon arrival at the CORP hotel, we had to mention that we wanted two twin beds. We had communicated that in advance and also sent an email to you. You guys handled that very well. It was just unfortunate that we were in a smoking room, so all our clothes stank of smoke.
Breakfast was very good! lots of choices. The area to do anything a little less, but we found a rooftop bar across the street where we could have a drink at the regency. We went to the citadel the next day, how special! At Jerash also had a top private tour guide who spoke good English, and provided us two with lots of information.
Then we went to dowtown amam again, to rainbowstreet and got something to eat, unfortunately no street food tour, we regretted that because we were very much looking forward to that at that time, also because we were very hungry.
It was an impressive and exhausting day. We also ended up not visiting the amfi theater, but we were fine with that.
Up early the next day to Mount Nebo, really nice to leave early for all the buses full of tourists. This has given us an almost exclusive experience.
We drove on to Petra. Have watched the sunset in wadi musa, and eaten at sajiat al janoob - REALLY RECOMMENDED. I also went to a Turkish bathhouse, what an experience that was! I was all alone. The guesthouse hotel is really great! we had an upgrate to a chalet. And the fact that it was next to the gates of Petra was totally great, so we went in at 7 am. Fortunately for all tourists. We had Myriam as our guide, how good is she! She could tell us so much about the history, and went at a nice pace with us through petra. She also knew how to point out the right places to take great photos. Unfortunately, we were not able to do everything in 4 hours. And would have found a cool if we could have spent another day in petra to do a trail to a high temple. Or the by night version.
Then to Aqaba, oh oh how tired we were, but also full of energy at the same time. We were actually too tired to have dinner with the family, however, it wasn't too bad and we had a good click with them. Delicious food! And so nice that they took into account lactose free. Here we did find out that our driver did not always understand us, his English was not fantastic. And that sometimes brought some friction between us.
Fortunately, the next day we had a day to ourselves. We then went to B12 beach club, and hung out and wakeboarded all day. Also a good tip! The hotel where we stayed was in need of renovation though and frankly was incredibly disappointing. But they moved us to a room with sea view, and no smell of sewage. So we weren't at the hotel that much, because we were away that day. We went for drinks at cloud7 that evening. So Ayla is an area where we can just dress for us normally and eat and drink. (also a good tip for tourists, as the rest of Aqaba is not as free to walk as women) For a moment there, we felt free and safe again.
Continue to Wadi Rum Alladin camp
What a tremendously unique experience that was! The starry sky was incredibly clear, the desert impressive. Unfortunately we had a tour guide who did not speak to us, I myself was curious as to where the films were shot etc. But no, it was just driving around, taking quick photos etc. Nice that there were two of us there alone, though; the desert is really a moment of viewing. The manager of the camp a tremendously nice man. We had a long talk with him and he took us to a place where we could see the stars. (so not with such a stargazing tour) The dome we slept in was really fine for one night. There are not very many facilities there so we had food with us but couldn't put it in a refrigerator. Also, the bathroom only had a sink, no hooks to hang things or put your bath stuff down. The food in the evening was top notch! The manager walked us through the buffet to indicate which items Suuz could not eat. What a service!
Then we went to mujib (siqtrail) wow wow wow what an experience! this was so much fun to do, and beyond expectations.
Overall, it was a hugely magical trip! More than we expected, how much beauty we got to see.
Price-quality all the way! Sometimes we couldn't believe we were there and that it was so well organized. Really little to comment on.
We were like: you should really make this kind of trip when you are still fit and young because we found it even intense and are fairly sporty. All the walking and climbing we would not recommend to people who are retired.
