Best Untamed Travelling team,
I made some fantastic wonderful memories again during my unforgettable trip to Tanzania!
The most special moment was of course reaching the top of the Kilimanjaro after an incredibly hard climb of 7 days with some very cold nights. The descent was at least as tough but because of the great team of guide and 5 porters from African Spoonbill, I was able to complete this whole expedition. Especially Mudi, the guide, I am immensely grateful for his professional guidance and patience all 8 days and also the cook, Eduarde, who always prepared the most delicious and nutritious dishes for me (and that in a small tent!). But also all credit to the porters who had to carry all the gear from tent to tea bags with them at all times! After this I was taken by Pius to the beautiful hotel Kili Villas on the golf course near Arusha. Unfortunately, I was too tired to go to the golf course but was in huge need of a shower, rest and a wonderful bed in a fantastic setting.
The next day early in the morning already began the next beautiful adventure, safaris in the Tarangire, Ngorongoroand Serengeti with Asilia Africa. What a fantastic organization! From the briefing during the spectacular drive to the Arusha airport to all the tent camps and of course the game drives and delicious meals, everything was organized to perfection super and super de luxe. Here I felt so at home that the 5 days were far too short, especially because of the fatigue and muscle pain the first 2 days, which I had left over from Kilimanjaro. Asilia's tent camps are so fantastic with all the friendly staff and sleeping in the middle of the bush, truly TOP!!!
After this, 5 more days of Zanzibar, which mostly took some getting used to all the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. In contrast, the wonderfully luxurious Park Hyatt hotel was a beautiful and quiet place in the middle of the city and right on the beach where service was paramount. The last days in northern Zanzibar were unfortunately not what I expected, a fine hotel with a nice room (€€€) but the value for money was completely out of balance. At Gold Zanzibar, it's mainly the masses that are the main focus and not the service.
