The Kalahari
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the largest wilderness areas in the world. Originally the Central Kalahari Game Reserve was established to protect and habitat the Bushmen, but due to prolonged drought and difficult living conditions the Bushmen have left this area. The landscape is rugged and inhospitable, with vast dune rows, acacia's and other low vegetation. Large predators such as black-monthed lions, leopards and the rare brown hyena search the valleys for prey. Every year, after the tropical rainfall, hundreds of mutt and springbok come together at the bottom of these valleys. You will not only find special game species such as the elk antiloop (largest on the continent), but also magnificent landscapes and unspoilt nature.
Tsodilo Hills
In the Kalahari, northwest of the Okavango Delta, lie the Tsodilo Hills, mysterious rock formations with more than 2500 petroglyphs of the legendary Bushmen. Only recently has this area been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
