Abandoned beaches in Kenya
Kenya's coast offers paradisiacal beaches with palm trees and azure seas combined with a rich history. The most famous place on the coast is Mombasa. The coast of Mombasa is divided into a northern and a southern part. South of Mombasa is Diani Beach, known as the most beautiful sandy beach in Kenya. Here, then, are numerous beach hotels in all categories. North of Mombasa is Malindi, with stunning beaches and beautiful coral reefs off the coast in the Malindi Marine National Park.
Lamu Stone Town
If you are looking for a quieter destination for a relaxing beach stay choose to stay at Lamu. The old town on Lamu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, looks like an open-air museum; stroll through narrow streets of historic buildings with beautifully carved wooden doors and ornate balconies take you back in time, where donkeys and boats still play the main role of transportation on the island. Lamu Island is part of the Lamu Archipelago, which includes Manda Island and the Pate Islands.
