Rainforest in Kenya
Kakamega Forest National Reserve is the last remaining piece of rainforest in Kenya, which used to reach the Atlantic coast. The park is unique in its kind in Kenya. It contains 125 species of hardwood trees and no less than 330 bird species. In addition, Kakamega is home to 400 species of butterflies, the flying squirrel and several small and medium-sized primates including the fringe monkey, green meerkat, civet cat, Sykes' monkey and the rare De Brazza's monkey.
