Semonkong Lodge

Warm hospitality in the mountains of Lesotho

The lowest point in Lesotho - "Kingdom of the Sky" - is at 1,400m above sea level. Semonkong Lodge is located in the Maloti mountain range, an alpine basalt plateau with valleys and high peaks. The very highest peak is at 3,291 meters. Semonkong Lodge is located in a picturesque valley at 2,200m elevation, on the banks of the Maletsunyane River with views of high mountain peaks all around. This is a destination that moves with the seasons; in the winter months the mountains are covered with snow, outside the short summer it freezes regularly. But summer and winter a warm welcome awaits you at Semonkong Lodge, a family-owned business that once began as a stopping place for equestrians and other sporting travelers. The homey lounge has a substantial fireplace burning: a blissful place to unwind after a day of activities. Where the world can't find you...

Abseiling, horseback riding and much more

You do not need to be in top physical condition to go on a 4WD tour - with or without hiking - or a day of river fishing. But if you are looking for a physical challenge, you can enjoy a day of hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding, with or without an overnight stay. For the real adrenaline junkie, you can go abseiling, the ultimate being the 204-meter high vertical wall of the Maletsunyane waterfall. Do you dare?
