Bazaruto and Benguerra
The beautiful islands off the coast of Vilanculos were also called'Paradise Islands'by the Portuguese. The archipelago is similar to the Seychelles; unspoiled beaches, azure sea, palm trees and underwater for divers and snorkelers a true paradise with miles of untouched reef. The archipelago owes its status as a national park to its unique ecosystem. Barracudas, sea turtles, various dolphin species and giant mantas are observed almost all year round. Between February and May it is possible to 'spot' the benign giant whale sharks, which pass through the coast of Mozambique during the annual migration. From June to September, whales occur off the coast.
The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of five islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra,Magaruque, Santa Carolina and the smallest island of Bangué. Each of them are gems of islands where you can fully relax far from the inhabited world. In addition to diving and snorkeling, you can take catamaran sailing tours of the various islands and deep-sea fishing.
