A peninsula rich in fauna
Langue de Barbarie is one of senegal's six national parks, nearby St. Louis. This national park, a narrow expanse of peninsula that separates the Senegal River from the Atlantic Ocean, is located in the Gandiolais region and encompasses as much as 2,000 hectares of land rich in wildlife. The park was created in 1976 as an ornithological reserve and is home to several bird species, including flamingos and pelicans, reptiles and sea turtles that lay their eggs on the sandy beaches of Langue de Barbarie.
