Cruise across the Senegal River
The Senegal River flows from Fouta Djalon in Guinea via Mali to the city of St. Louis on the Atlantic. A boat trip across the Senegal River is a unique and special way to get acquainted with this part of the country. This brings you to the Diama dam, which prevents the saltwater of the ocean from flowing back into the river. Further upstream along the river, which is bordered by Senegal on one side and through Mauritania on the other, you can see many rice fields on the banks of the Senegalese side. You'll see herds of animals drinking on the shores, cruising past villages, and watching the beautiful sunset from the shores.
