An age-old culture
In the mountainous region of Bassari,in southeastern Senegal,you will be introduced to the Bedik. The Bedik, one of the most traditional populations of the country, settled here for fear of conversion to Islam and Christianity. Through isolation, their centuries-old culture has remained virtually unchanged to this day. This population group feels more connected to countries Guinea-Conakry and Mali than to Senegal. Their religion is a special mix between animist faith and Christianity.
