Main Island of the Seychelles
Mahé is the largest of the 115 islands and comparable in size to Texel. It is also called island of abundance because of its rich flora and fauna. You can make the most of it thanks to the many walking routes. The most beautiful are in the national park of Morne, named after the almost thousand meter high mountain top. Off the coast is the Port Launay sea park. The area attracts divers from all over the world due to the near lack of currents. The presence of shipwrecks, giant tortoises, whale sharks and rays increases that appeal. Mahé has no less than 68 paradisiacal beaches. There are also tea plantations and the world's smallest capital. The motley collection of restaurants is praised for the delicious dishes of Creole cuisine with surprising variations of rice, fish, herbs and vegetables. Outside the city you will find traditional Creole houses and workshops of craftsmen. You can get around on foot and by bus but for a small amount you rent a mini moke, a small car with which you choose your own destination.
