Luxury tented camp with sophisticated design
Viewed from a bird's eye view, the striking silhouette of twelve roofs of sturdy canvas stretched over a curved tree trunk some 22 meters long emerges. The technique is inspired by the way a traditional Zulu shield is made, and is intended as a tribute to this people who are inextricably linked to the land around Madwaleni River Lodge. Natural materials and wickerwork, decorative motifs and pigments, these are cultural echoes that resound in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal. This inspired canvas forms the basis for the top-luxe tented camp.
Babanango Game Reserve
From the deck in front of the tents, you overlook the White Umfolozi River, which cuts through the vast Babanango Game Reserve. Here you are surrounded by a carpet of grassland and bushveld, large boulders, rock plateaus and rolling hills. In the game reserve, you can look for the black rhino and other rare species such as oribi and klipspringer. Moreover, with the reintroduction of the elephant in 2023, the Big Five will be complete.
