Private game reserve in Great Karoo
In the malaria-free Great Karoo, not far from the old town of Graaff Reinet, lies the private game reserve Mount Camdeboo. What a beautiful setting! A vast valley is fringed by hills and mountains, there are open plains and more forested plots. During a safari, you may see lions, elephants and leopards, as well as cheetahs, mountain zebra and aardvark. Meanwhile, you will drive through that beautiful landscape, with vistas and some truly spectacular geological formations.
Luxury suites, pods and a self-catering manor
The best way to explore the game reserve is from the various lodges on the property. The original cape-style mansions Camdeboo Manor and the Courtyard Manor are walled. For more privacy within the shelter of those walls, there is the rustic Pepperpot Cottage, which has a fireplace. Outside the fence, the beautifully landscaped garden merges into the bushveld. A narrow road leads to the self-catering Hillside Manor, which sits higher up and offers fantastic views. For the most privacy in a spot in the middle of nature, however, choose one of the two pods: freestanding, eco-friendly chalets. This is the perfect escape for nature lovers and lovers alike. Don't be surprised if baboons, warthogs and other wildlife walk past the terrace here. The heavily resonant call of the lion echoes throughout. Where the world can't find you...
