Where the world can't find you...
Biodiversity, hiking trails and culture
From the camp you can take wonderful walks. There are extensive walking trails, for example to the viewpoint over the Lanner Gorge, where the river carves its way into the depths through the eroded rocks. In addition to the two major rivers, there are about thirty wetlands that are home to an exceptional number of birds. The park is home to ancient baobabs, which are part of the culture and folklore of local peoples. Stories tell of ancient kings and all kinds of disputes that were settled at the foot of such a baobab. Also visit Thulamela, an archaeological site with the ruins of a 13th-century citadel akin to Great Zimbabwe near Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
