In 1999, Liz Biden and her family first opened their private Malewane residence to guests, based on the idea that as many travelers as possible should benefit from such a delightful residence in the Kruger Park. It turned out to be the beginning of a successful family adventure called Royal Portfolio South Africa, aiming to string together the best of the Rainbow Nation through a chain of exceptional boutique hotels, luxury lodges and private villas. The design and décor of all the rooms were carefully chosen by Liz Biden: the very different themes, color schemes, art objects and unusual textiles such as hand-embroidered rugs.
