Kingdom of eSwatini
eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) is a kingdom sandwiched between South Africa and Mozambique. The landscapes in eSwatini are varied. In the west you will find hills and mountainous landscapes covered with forests; the east is flatter and "dotted" with sugar cane plantations. Much more than in South Africa, the original population here has preserved its rich culture. Colorful people from the various ethnic groups largely determine the street scene. In the capital Mbabane you can visit lively markets and you can visit Ezulwini; the royal valley. eSwatini can be considered a fully-fledged safari island. The game parks are home to almost all animal species found in South Africa. In the Mlilwane Game Sanctuary , the animal wealth is less than in a typical African park, but the reserve forms a harmonious whole and is well worth a visit. Mhkaya N.P. is a private reserve, whose main purpose is to protect endangered species, such as the white and black rhinoceros. The reserve is supported by international wildlife organizations including the World Wildlife Fund.
Kingdom of Lesotho
Lesotho, like eSwatini, is a small kingdom within South Africa. Lovers of the original Africa are in for a treat here. The country has a very traditional and friendly population, the Basotho. Small villages with mud huts and thatched roofs and shepherds on horseback with their herds are frequently seen along the side of the road. Time seems to have stood still here. Because of its high altitude, Lesotho is also called the "roof of Africa. You can make beautiful walks here, but also explore the country from the back of a horse. The Basotho themselves use the horse as their main means of transportation, as the country lends itself best to this.
