Wildlife in your backyard
Xaus Lodge is located in the heart of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Kalahari) on the edge of a waterhole. Here you are in the middle of nature and all the wildlife can be seen directly from your chalet. Wherever you are in the lodge - at the pool, in the lounge, at a table in the dining area or on your own private terrace - , you can always enjoy the spectacular views of the waterhole and Kgalagadi. An excellent place for bird lovers, as the Kalahari has the largest concentration of birds of prey in South Africa. But also regularly appear here the Kalahari lion with its black mane and oryx which you can admire safely from your chalet. In our opinion, a game drive at sunset or in the early evening is the ideal way to experience the Kalahari and its wildlife.
Bright starry skies and digital detox
Due to the clean air and lack of light pollution from nearby cities, the stargazing here is phenomenal. There is a special platform available for stargazing, in addition, special stargazing activities are offered that will make your stay unforgettable. Prepare for a digital detox, as you will be staying here far outside the range of the usual signals. Where the world can't find you...

- Only twelve chalets, each with an en-suite bathroom and a private terrace overlooking the waterhole
- !Xaus means "heart" in the language of the Khomani San, a local people group belonging to the Bushmen. Indeed, for them this place symbolizes the preservation of their land of which this place is the centerpiece
- The lodge is managed by local communities. They benefit from the revenues of the lodge. So with your stay at !Xaus Lodge you also contribute to the preservation of the community and the environment.
- Various activities are organized from the lodge. So you can take a guided hike or a game drive, but also special is a meeting with the local ethnic groups
- Artistic local art can be found in the art & craft shop
- You are in the middle of the desert here, so water is limited and there is a strict water policy. Bottled drinking water is available in your chalet
- The small pool is filled only if enough water is available
- In !Xaus Lodge there is no wifi, no cell phone coverage, there is no TV. For emergencies there is a satellite phone available
