Voodoo rituals and festivals
The voodoo religion is used to solve the problems of everyday life. Voodoo originated around 1700 as a snake cult. Important ingredients during the practice of voodoo are dance, music and the most diverse rituals. During a voodoo ceremony, the dancers go through the hypnotic rhythms in a kind of trance, which can sometimes look a little terrifying. During the ceremonies, a wide variety of objects with a symbolic meaning are also used that are important for the voodoo religion. There are many voodoo festivals in Togo every year with different ceremonies. On the coast, between the paradisiacal beaches are Togoville and Vogan, home bases of voodoo. The Akodessewa Fetish Market is considered the largest and most important voodoo market in the world.
