St. Louis, old colonialism and jazz festivals

In St. Louis, an old colonial city, board the Bou El Mogdad for a multi-day boat ride across the Senegal River. You will visit the famous Djoudjpark, the third most important bird park in the world, with flamingos, pelicans and cormorants. In addition to all the birds, there are also more than twenty species of mammals, including pigs and monkeys.
Rice paddies along the banks of the Senegal River
The Senegal River is bordered by Senegal on one side and Mauritania on the other. The banks on the Senegalese side are intensively processed, you will see many rice paddies here. Further upstream, you'll visit dagana's large palm garden and take a tour of banana plantations in Mauritania. Podor, an old trading post is one of the last places you visit. You can see trading houses with large courtyards and warehouses where Arabic gum, firewood, ivory and slaves were 'stored'.
