Murchison Falls and Bwindi

A special combination of two beautiful countries. Both special and unique. What connects them are the most special inhabitants: the mountain gorillas. You will visit them in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Parc National de Volcans. Driving past typical Ugandan villages, you'll arrive at the gateway to the mighty Murchison Falls National Park. You will get off for a walk to the top of the spectacular waterfall   and find a spot near the cooling fog rain with beautiful views of the rainbows that form here. Time for some action: a game drive on the north shore of the Nile, looking for elephants, lions, buffaloes, Rothchild's giraffes and antelopes.

Chimpanzees and mountain gorillas

From the wild-rich Murchison Falls, continue to Kibale Forest National Park, known for its large population of chimpanzees. Before you move into Rwanda, enjoy the varied ecology in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Hippos, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, bobbing pelicans and African sea eagles in dead trees accompany you on a boat trip on the Kazinga Canal. Less wild is the gorilla tracking you make in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, but strenuous enough in itself due to the impenetrable trails and high humidity. When you work your way through the wooded slopes and see the mountain gorillas, your heart skips. The magic of these beautiful animals will also touch you. At the fairytale Lake Bunyoni you can relax and enjoy all the wonderful and sometimes exciting moments before getting ready for another gorilla tracking, this time at Parc National des Volcans. You follow in the footsteps of Dian Fossy (known from Gorillas in the Mist), who did a years-long study on the behaviour of these great apes. In clear weather, you can see the impressive volcanoes from afar from the flanks of the Virunga mountain range. You conclude this trip in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
