Trekking Siroua massif

Hiking in an authentic environment

The Siroua massif lies between the High and Anti Atlas on the south side of the Toubkalm massif.
The highest peak Jebel Siroua (3305 m) is a sacred place for the locals, where farmers sacrifice animals every year to propitiate the gods for a good harvest.
This sets the tone for the area, where ancient traditions still live on and where life is determined by the seasons and meteorological conditions.
Along the way you will meet them: herders with their herds of goats, sheep and cows, and farmers who grow almonds and saffron in addition to corn and wheat.
This bulbous crop provides an orange dye used in the manufacture of the famous Ouaouzguitis carpets.
You will pass through villages, small orchards and river valleys, as well as sometimes going up significantly to mountain passes and - if you like - that important highest peak Jebel Siroua. Where the world can't find you ...

Volcanic landscape

Just on those higher paths you will recognize an ancient volcanic landscape, with extinguished and eroded volcanoes and basalt formations.
An unspoiled and often deserted environment where hardly any tourists come, and where you will sometimes encounter only a shepherd with his flock.
During a multi-day trek far from asphalt roads, do not expect luxury hotels or restaurants, but rather spontaneous encounters and special expressions of hospitality.
Whether you choose day hikes or continuous trekking, this is the ideal destination for a unique (mountain) hiking vacation!
