One of Uganda's most beautiful parks
In northeastern Uganda, completely isolated from the rest of the country, is one of the most spectacular parks, Kidepo Valley National Park. The landscape ranges from mountainous terrain with remnants of montane forest to vast grassland and palm islands. The park is home to more than 86 species of wildlife, including elephant, lion, zebra, giraffe, thick-fat, buffalo, oribi and waterbuck. Six different primates and more than 460 bird species are common. The surroundings of the park are home to the Karamojong, a nomadic tribe with many similarities to the Maasai in Kenya.
KARAMOJONG
The Karamojong lives near Mount Moroto and in the middle of Karamoja. The colourful tribe, known for their love of livestock, is a proud and unique people who still survive as pastoralists. The colourful blankets, piercings and necklaces full of beads, the language and traditional dances make them unique from the other tribes in Uganda.
