Mount Elgon National Park
Mount Elgon National Park is located on the border with Kenya and gets its name from, yes; Mount Elgon, the oldest volcanic mountain in East Africa. With a diameter of no less than 80 km and an altitude of more than 4,320 meters above sea level at the highest of the five peaks - Wagagai- Elgon rises above the fertile environment where a dizzying bird life, antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffaloes have free reign. Because of the beautiful flora of the mountainous landscape, it is a paradise for hikers and climbers. The enchantingly beautiful flowers, the caves and the magnificent views make every walk a sight to behold. The best periods for this are the dry seasons, from June to August and from December to March.
Sipi Falls
Part of Mount Elgon N.P. are the Sipi Falls, a trio of waterfalls that crash into the Sipi River. In the area – one of the most beautiful coffee zones in the world – you can make coffee tours in addition to hiking, abseiling, rafting and fly fishing. Visit a local plantation, let yourself be initiated in the process from sowing to roasting and finish with a cup of homemade Arabica coffee.
Na. Mount Elgon National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO
