Dwarika’s Hotel

Hotel in original Newari architecture

Dwarika's Hotel is an oasis of calm in the Kathmandu Valley. The elegant and quintessentially Nepalese hotel takes its name from its founder, Dwarika Das Shrestha's,a visionary. About Dwarika, he said:

"My project is to recreate a 15th-17th century environment where tourist and Nepali alike would have a sensation of the original. The hotel as a commercial enterprise is merely a   vehicle to finance and carry my dream forward." His dream was   to bring back a prosperous Nepal, to its former glory.

Dwarika's is characterized by the beautiful Newari architecture and the original carvings. The hotel is built with terra cotta designs from the 15th century and wood from demolished old buildings from all over the country. Collecting his wood collection did not put Dwarika out of poverty, but to emphasize the true value of Nepal's rich cultural heritage. The hotel houses a rare collection of 13th century artifacts.

The mix of architecture, spacious and beautifully decorated rooms combined with great food and fantastic service make Dwarika a travel destination in itself.
