Passing through the Himalayas

The paths have already had many footsteps to follow. Once that of the traders on their way to Tibet.   Nowadays especially those of the travelers, who want to experience the mountains and enjoy the breathtaking views of their trek through the Himalayas.

A trekking means days of walking where adequate rest and good food is important. Simple, but certainly not monotonous. Because every step means a new perspective on the peaks. That pride towering over the landscape. And impress with their white crown. The Annapurna region is popular. Mountains come surprisingly close and there is a path for everyone to walk. A twelve-day trip to the Annapurna Base Camp. A climb over the 5400 meter high Thorung La Pas. Or a two-day trip to Poon Hill: sunrise with a steaming cup of tea and a view of the highest peaks in the world.

Paths are not only hiked with mountain shoes. Wild blue Himalayan sheep regularly cross the road. And also the inhabitants of the small mountain villages make use of the route through this inhospitable area. Weathered faces nod a friendly namasté, weighed down by the heavy burden they carry with them through a band around their heads.

The Himalayas have a strong appeal. Yet there are still rarely walked paths. They meander through the mountains, rise, descend and rise again. East of the much visited Everest region is Makalu Barun National Park. In the far northwest lies the protected nature reserve Api Nampa. The distance to the world's highest peaks is somewhat larger but with their imposing snowy peaks they still hold the landscape in their grip. This is in contrast to tourism: here you have the paths for you only.
