Endlessly beautiful coastline
In the heart of the Philippines lies the Visayas archipelago, consisting of seven larger islands and hundreds of small islands. The coastal areas with their many idyllic palm beaches and hidden coves fulfill the picture of a tropical paradise for lovers of sun and sea, activities on or under the water and undisturbed relaxation at the water's edge.
Surprising landscape variety
The interior of the larger islands offer surprising diversity, both scenic and cultural. The iconic Chocolate Hills of Bohol, the Tarsier Sanctuary at Corella, the sugar cane plantations and rice fields on Negros, lively towns like Bacolod and Iloilo with ancient forts and churches dating back to the Spanish colonial period, the small villages where life seems to have a different rhythm. On hikes, you will see waterfalls, beautiful viewpoints and many birds and butterflies. The Kawasan waterfalls can be reached on foot, lovers of canyoning can take a splash through jagged rock formations with natural slides and deep pools of turquoise water here. Eventually you will return to the coast, where the most beautiful resorts can be found. Then choose, for example, a resort on the island of Boracay - just north of Panay - or perch on Siquijor - one of the southernmost islands in the Visayas.
World-class dive sites
The opportunities for snorkeling and diving are endless around the Visayas. If you do not yet have a PADI certification, here are fantastic opportunities to be initiated into this sport. A whole new world opens up and shows its most beautiful face in the waters surrounding this archipelago. Experienced divers will enjoy Malapascua, where thresher sharks(Thresher shark) can be seen close to the surface and wreck diving is among the possibilities. Also, there are many locations around Cebu and Bohol where - in the right season - you can swim with whale sharks.
