DESOLATE AND UNAFFECTED
Traveling through inhospitable Tibet, it is impossible not to be impressed by the endless landscapes. During trekkings across the roof of the world, the views are spectacular, nothing but desolate untouched nature as far as the eye can see only interspersed with waving prayer flags.
IMPOSING MOUNTAINS AND HIGH PLAINS
Between the imposing mountains and high plains, some of the world's longest and most powerful natural lifebloods spring. In rugged Amdo, the Mekong and the Yellow and Blue Rivers and more south begin the sacred Brahmaputra or Yarlung Tsangpo River. In southern Tibet, the Himalayas dominate the picture and snow-capped peaks are interspersed with rugged open plains, crystal clear rivers and migratory lakes in unlikely shades of blue. The colourful seas of flowers in the low eastern part of the mountains stand in stark contrast to the harsh high north side where mountain masses are only revived by circling golden eagles and lamb vultures.
