Cultural impressions and grand monuments
At the beginning of this fascinating tour, you will be thrown right into the deep end, with two full days in Delhi. This metropolis has more inhabitants than all of the Netherlands and Belgium combined, and here you will find a stunning amount of modern and ancient architecture. Initial explorations are overwhelming, both visiting grand monuments and cycling through the narrow streets of Old Delhi, where you are surrounded by the colors and smells of India. Find peace from time to time in a city park, green oases in a city vibrating with activity. Over the next few weeks, you will navigate between cultures and religions, big cities and distinctive villages in India and Nepal. You will see mosques, Hindu temples, Sikh places of worship, Buddhist temples and stupas, forts and palaces, modern shopping malls, as well as local markets and teahouses where you will settle down for a cup of hot chai masala.
Jeep safaris and nature walks
Refreshing and engaging are the excursions into nature, such as a jeep safari at Jhalana Leopard Safari Park near Jaipur. Here you will look for leopards, hyenas, civets and other game. Do you feel the different atmosphere as soon as you arrive in Kathmandu? It is not only the atmosphere that is different, the people and the streetscape here are different as well. In the background the mountains with snow-capped peaks beckon. Take in nature on a jeep safari, a boat ride and hikes.
