BLUE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK OF JAMAICA
With more than 15 kilometres of nature trails, you can enjoy beautiful nature walks here. The Blue Mountain Peak Trail takes you to the highest point of the island, an intensive hike where the lush canopy gives way to an elf-like forest once you reach the top.
The national park is one of the largest migratory bird sites in the Caribbean. Several native birds as well as singers, merlins, falcons and kingfishers like to stay there, observe how they escape the winter.
The Blue Mountains National Park of Jamaica is the historic home of the Windward Maroons. Take a community tour at Scott's Hall of Moore Town and learn about the forest's "first guards." Maroons are Africans who refused to submit to forced labour on plantations and defended their freedom against the formidable terrain of the Mountains. They developed as a separate community with their own unique language, cuisine, laws and lifestyle. A unique cultural discovery!
