True rider's paradise
On a low sandy basin between the Danube and Tisza rivers, the plains of Puszta are dotted with small farms. The vast landscape is interspersed with forests, fruit orchards, shallow lakes and meadows. A large number of sandy paths cross fields of corn, peppers and sunflowers. Here and there peach trees or an acacia forest. The vast grasslands are home to game, birds and rare plants. Puszta is home to a rich wildlife population of roe deer, fallow deer, red deer, foxes, wild boars and jackals. The area is considered one of the very best places for horseback riding. No obstacles through fences or busy roads, a true paradise for riders.
In the northern part of the vast grassy plain is the Hortobágy National Park , the first national park and also the largest protected area in Hungary . Characteristic of the lowlands is the well-known white-grey cow with its large, twisted horns.
