Perfect mix of beach and culture
With a long coastline, it is not difficult to find a suitable beach destination in the Baltic States. The resort of Jūrmala in Latvia is a good example of this. Elongated sandy beaches bordering dense forests make it one of the most popular destinations for locals who like to relax in and by the sea. And then there's Palanga in Lithuania. From a fashionable seaside resort in the Tsars era to a place with large sanatoriums in the Stalin period, Palanga experienced it all. Nowadays the villas are being restored and the city is working on a new and positive image. And the beach of the town of Nida in Lithuania is dotted with amber and surrounded by bare dunes. The most famous beach destination in Estonia is Parnu. The sea there is perhaps more suitable for windsurfing and the beach by the wind less for sunbathing but the town itself is fascinating with houses built in Bauhaus, Jugendstil and Art Deco style.
