Fragrant lavender fields and lovely villages

Provence is a beautiful, varied and above all a beloved region in the south of France. It is located between the Mediterranean, Italy and the Rhônedal and offers historic towns, typical quaint villages and fantastic nature reserves.

During a trip through Provence, a visit to the spectacular Gordes du Verdon is an absolute must. This second largest river gorge in Europe is a perfect area for activities such as hiking and kayaking. Very special to see the bright blue water squirming along the rocks in this rugged landscape from Margés Vaumaleis.

Discover the beautiful and historic city of Avignon located on the River Rhône with many cultural highlights such as the Palais des Papes, the medieval bridge Pont Saint-Bénézet. Explore the city of Arles where Vincent van Gogh has gained a lot of inspiration for his paintings. The well-preserved Roman amphitheatre is also highly recommended. The large port city of Marseille has been on the rise again in recent years. The old district of Le Panier, the old port and the many tasty restaurants are worth a visit.

Of course, Mont Ventoux can't be missed during a Provence trip. This highest mountain is over 1900 meters high and very popular with cyclists and hikers. On the coast, near Marseille, lies the Massif des Calanques consisting of narrow coves surrounded by high white cliffs. In these coves there is often a beach from where you can swim in the beautiful azure sea.

The vast Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon nature reserve includes the mountain massif Luberon, the valley of the Apt and the countless idyllic villages. These villages are characterised by the stone cottages and lie among the typical Mediterranean French landscape with lavender fields and vineyards. Gordes is one of those villages that certainly can't skip on your route. The beautiful marshy nature reserve the Camargue is well worth a visit because of its special ecosystems. The many wild horses, flamingos, salt pans, beautiful beaches and also fortress town Aigues Mortes can be found here.
