Capital with a rich history
Tbilisi, which means Hot Water Source, is the capital and largest city of Georgia, located on the banks of the River Mtkvari. Due to its location on the Silk Road, Tbilisi has a rich history that is reflected in its architecture: a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist and modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi was home to people from multiple cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, although it is currently predominantly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
Stroll through the atmospheric streets in the impressive city centre and enjoy in restaurants where local dishes are served. Admire the botanical garden with thousands of plant species and for a true Tblisi experience visit the large market full of local produce. A beautiful view of the city is enjoyed during a special ride in the cable car. There is no shortage of good hotels in Tbilisi: a must is design hotel Stamba, located in one of the historic districts.
