Lakes and islands
The West Coast of Sweden is the area of the Dalsland and Västergötland regions with a landscape of forests and lakes that is so characteristic of the country. The largest lake in the country is lake Vänern with countless islands including the Lurö archipelago where a varied landscape with sandy beaches can be found. The landscape changes on the coast, north of Gothenburg to the Norwegian border. Here lies the Bohuslän archipelago with more than 8,000 islands and creates a unique and beautiful coastline. Well worth a visit is the part of the Kosterhavet National Park and the Koster Islands. The best way to discover all this beauty is by kayak where it is possible to paddle along rocky coves, around islets and come across a seal community.
