Mayan culture and untouched nature
Above and below water
Belize is a special mixture of Creole, British colonial and ancient Maya culture. Most striking, however, is the pristine nature and diversity of this small country. On the coast you will experience the relaxed Caribbean atmosphere; swaying palm trees, turquoise sea, reggae and rum punch. The Belize Barrier Reef is the second largest coral reef in the world and offers many opportunities for diving and snorkeling. However, you can also relax at the beaches or the cayos (islands). The interior is no less spectacular: from the pristine jungle of the Maya Mountains to the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge Forest . A paradise for bird watchers, but if you are lucky you can also spot the jaguar here. Tucked into the dense forest you will also find remnants of classical Mayan cities, such as Caracol, which still exude grandeur.
