Medellin

The history of Medellin is largely formed Pablo Escobar. Under his rule, violence and crime reigned supreme and Medellin was known as 'the most dangerous city in the world'. Nowadays it is no longer in the hands of the cartel and now Medellin has turned into a lively city with friendly locals, a vibrant nightlife and many hip cafes. Perhaps the nicest big city in Colombia! Located in a valley in the high Andes, the city has a pleasant temperature of 20 degrees Celsius all year round. Medellin has several attractive parks of which La Plazoleta houses no less than 23 statues by the well-known Colombian artist Botero. A must is the annual flower parade festival at the beginning of August where you will see beautiful floats full of flowers. A cable car trip to the mountainous suburbs is also worth while you can enjoy stunning views of this interesting city from Nutibara hill.
