Ecuador rainforest
The Reserva Faunística Cuyabeno is a tropical rainforest area in eastern Ecuador on the border with Peru and Colombia, part of the Amazon ecosystem. It consists of rivers, lagoons and partially submerged forest. The rich flora present in the reserve includes wild roses and 60 different orchid species. The incredible number of 12,000 different plants are counted in the reserve! More than 550 different bird species, such as the Amazon eagle with a wingspan of nearly 2.5 meters and more than 350 species of fish, includingpiranhas. Among the reptiles anacondas, alligators and river turtles. And finally mammals like the pink freshwater dolphin.
Yasuni National Park
Yasuni National Park is located just south of the Cuyabeno reserve. The park is home to a number of local tribes that have little contact with the outside world, such as the Tagaeri and Taromenane tribes. The park consists mainly of rainforest and is called the most biologically diverse place on earth! With an immense diversity of amphibians, birds, mammals and vascular plants. The Yasuni bat even only occurs in this park.
