Lake Yojoa surrounded by national parks
Lake Yojoa is the largest lake in Honduras with an area of 285 km2 and a depth of 15 meters. The lake is enclosed by national parks, namely Santa Barbara NP and Cerro Azil Meambar NP. It is an ideal area for walking with spectacular views; it is also very popular with birdwatchers with more than 400 species. Around the lake you will also find ruins from pre-Columbian times; it is said that this area was once densely populated.
