Azuero Peninsula

The Azuero Peninsula is located in southwestern Panama. The provinces of Los Santos, Herrera and a part of the province of Veraguas form this peninsula. Azuero is considered the heart and soul of the country. Here the call for independence was heard for the first time. The inhabitants are very proud of this, and this is reflected in the many folkloric festivals that are held here. Examples include: Carnival in February, Easter in March/April and Corpus Cristi in June. Azuero is known not only for its folklore and traditions, but also for its rich pre-colonial and colonial history and for its coast and beaches. Something you will see a lot are small villages with typical Spanish architecture, where people still congregate around the churches and in the parks.
