Mountains and volcanoes in Panama
The mountain village of Boquete is known throughout Panama for its cool climate and the scenic surroundings in which it is located. Flowers, coffee trees, citrus fruits and vegetables grow very well in the fertile soil of this area. The village of Boquete was founded in 1911 by European immigrants, in the wet cloud forests surrounded by coffee plantations. Today it is the place where one of the best coffee varieties in the world is grown and is the most important agricultural region for Panama. In this area you can walk through cloud forests, past coffee plantations or in the village itself. When you take a walk to the top of the Barú volcano,of course a challenge in itself, you will be rewarded with a view of both oceans and spectacular vistas. On the western flank of the Barú volcano, 30 minutes away from the town of David, lies the small town of Volcán. It is located in the same region as Boquete and also possesses the same natural beauty. The mountains here are compared to the Alps. It is wonderful to walk in a lovely temperature that is between 16 and 27 C° all year long.
