Mayans in Guatemala
The journey starts in the highlands of Guatemala. Around the beautiful Atitlán lake and at the traditional market of Chichicastenango you will meet several Indian tribes descended from the ancient Mayans distinguished by their colourful attire and their own language. In this volcanic high mountain range is also the very charming colonial town of Antigua,the ancient capital of Guatemala. You'll travel on to El Salvador and stay in colonial Suchitoto near the beautiful Suchitlan Lake. From there you will travel partly by speedboat to the "off the beaten track" Nicaragua.
Colonial pearls in Nicaragua
Granada and León are colonial pearls where you look out your eyes. But Nicaragua's biggest attraction is probably the charm, authenticity and hospitality of its proud and vibrant inhabitants. Ometope island in the great Nicaragua Lake is home to two immense volcanoes and is both a special nature and a cultural experience. You close in green Costa Rica; you stay in the relatively small but quiet Rincon de la ViejaNational Park, named after the still active volcano in the park.

- Take a boat trip through the mangrove of Juan Venado Natural Reserve at Leon, a well-kept secret on day 9 (optional nature excursion)
- Take a tour of old Granada on day 11 with a traditional horse and cart (optional culture excursion)
- At Rincon de La Vieja on day 15 you can make a nice Canopy tour (optional nature excursion)
- You can also extend your trip with a pre tour to the amazing Mayan City in guatemala's jungle, Tikal(2 days, 1 night)
