Sea turtles and vast beaches
Christiaankondre and Langamankondre, located in the Galibi area, are two traditional Indian villages, right next to each other along the Marowijne River, at the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean on the border with French Guiana. Both villages have a sandy beach that is excellent for taking long walks or lounging in your hammock at your beach house. In the sea turtle season, from February to August, you can also visit the breeding grounds of the giant sea turtles that come here every year to lay their eggs. During this night excursion you will actually see the females come out to lay their eggs and then go back to the ocean, a moving experience!
