From Bagaces, visit the Llanos de Cortes waterfall, Miravalles Volcano National Park, the verdant Lomas Barbudal Biological Reserve and Palo Verde National Park. The latter park is home to many species of birds as well as crocodiles, monkeys, deer and other mammals. The Uvita rainforest has been named one of the most biologically intense regions in the world by National Geographic, from which you can also easily reach Marino Ballena National Park, famous for its humpback whales.
