Tips & Tops Pico da Neblina expedition:
- The expedition penetrates deep into the vast indigenous territories of the Yanomami. The area is under the management of FUNAI, the Brazilian government agency for the protection of indigenous people. The expedition is organized entirely in cooperation with the Yanomami
- A portion of the proceeds from the expedition will go to various local community associations
- You sleep in the rainforest in hammocks in simple jungle camps set up on site, where they also cook for you.
- The expedition team consists of small select groups accompanied by highly experienced, English-speaking expedition leaders, whose knowledge and enthusiasm ensure that everyone feels safe, confident and welcome
- The expedition is intended for people with good physical condition and mobility; it is desirable that participants have experience with trekking and hiking at higher altitudes
- The daily expedition routine is to get up early and hike for six to ten hours a day on moderate to steep slopes for at least ten days. You should be prepared for swimming in moderate currents
- Yanomami porters will assist at all times, including transporting some of the equipment during the trek
- If you do not manage to reach the top of the Pico da Neblina, helpers are available to assist with the descent.
