Palms and sea lions
The gold coasts of the Rocha department in southeastern Uruguayare considered by many to be the best beaches in the country and offer something for everyone. There are picturesque fishing villages such as Cabo Polonio with small islands off the coast with different sea lion colonies. The hinterland is characterized by wide landscapes interrupted by forests full of palm trees. The St. Tereza National Park is a popular reserve where nature lovers can discover the rich native flora and fauna.
