Underwater world in the Red Sea
With about twenty dive sites, Aqaba is THE place in Jordanto go snorkeling or diving in the Red Sea. If you are a lover of colorful coral then dive under at The Seven Sisters, Japanese Garden or explore Rainbow Reef. Spectacular about diving in Jordan is the presence of old army vehicles and shipwrecks at depths of only a few meters. Between New Canyon and The Seven Sisters, for example, you will dive to a 15-year-old tank at about six meters, and within walking distance of the beach you can admire a C130 Hercules transport plane, Advanced divers are even allowed into the cargo hold. Starting in 2020, you will find the so-called "Military Museum" underwater where you can swim past a combat helicopter, cannons and tanks, among other things.
Not only for divers, but also for snorkelers, Aqaba and its surroundings is a true paradise. About a fifteen-minute drive from downtown Aqaba, you will find the beaches of Aqaba Marine Park. Right off the beach you can admire the magnificent fish and the most amazing coral. Should you wish to get your diving license, that too is possible here and diving and snorkeling equipment can be rented on site.
If you travel outside the summer, a wetsuit is nice and warm because the water cools down to about 23 degrees in the fall and spring which you may find chilly.
