Geysers and bison
The oldest national park in the world, Yellowstone,is located on a dormant supervolcano. The closer to the underground caldera, the higher the geothermal activity. The psychedelic sea of microorganisms in the Norris Geyser Basin and the predictable towering explosions of boiling water and steam from the Old Faithful geyser are well worth it. Also not to be missed are the Lower Falls, where the Yellowstone River collapses with thunderous violence into the canyon of the Grand Canyon.
