An active trip to Antarctica
An expedition cruise to Antarctic Peninsula Basecamp offers many opportunities to explore Antartica in an active way. At Neumayer Channel, the waters around Wiencke Island are explored by Zodiac or by kayaks. The mountainous environment is also great for beautiful (snowshoe) hikes along the coast and for "soft" mountaineering, which involves climbing to various viewpoints further inland. Also at Goudier Island and Neko Harbour, you can hike through epic landscapes of giant glaciers and carved, snow-covered cliffs. The sea at Neko Harbour also offers fantastic opportunities for Zodiac cruises. The unparalleled beauty Paradise Bay offers the chance to spend the night outside like a true polar explorer to experience the ultimate Antarctic night. The only sound you will hear is from the nearby penguin colonies and the calving glaciers. Where the world can't find you...
To Basecamp Antarctica
From Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, you will sail towards Antarctica via the scenic Beagle Channel, lined by rugged mountains. In two days you will sail through the Drake Passage with a brisk breeze, rolling waves and possibly whales already. Gray rock peaks, covered in thick layers of snow, towers of broken blue-white ice and wondrous animals adapted to this extreme environment welcome you as you sail into the almost unworldly Antarctica. The expedition ship sails directly into "high Antarctica," past the Melchior Islands and through the Schollaert Channel, between Brabant and Anvers Island.
